State located in the Uruguayan southeast. Their plain and wavy territory, is altered by hills. The coast is low and with dunes. The climate is warm and rainy. It possesses several lagoons, among those stands out the Laguna Merín and the Laguna Negra. It has lignite locations and marble quarries. The main cultivations are: rice, tobacco, peanut, oleaginous and fruit-bearing. The main resource of the industry is the ovine cattle raising. Fishing activities are developed in towns like La Paloma and La Coronilla.
