Territory: 13.922 km²
Capital: Paysandu City
State located in the northwest of Uruguay. It has a warmer and more humid climate that the rest of the country. Their economy is based on the agriculture, the cattle raising and the forest exploitation (quebracho, ñandubay). The industrial activity is developed in its majority in the capital, having industries of vegetal oils, sugar, meat, cement, brewers, mechanical and wines. It possesses good communications via highways, rail and fluvial transport.
