State located in the southern area of the country. Their territory belongs to the call “llanura platense” (plain land). It is watered by the Santa Lucía river, their tributaries, and other streams that end in the Río de la Plata river that limits the department for the south. The agriculture has great economic importance and it is based on vineyards, fruit-bearing, cereals and forages, and industries of sugar beet, tobacco, wines and textile. It has good net of communications and several beautiful beaches.
