“Montevideo is one of the most peaceful cities in the Americas,” said the U.S. ambassador, Julissa Reynoso, going out to document the State Department of the United States, who warned of several “dangers” for American tourists visit Uruguay, or U.S. citizens interested in settling in Uruguay.

“Actually the whole document describes the basic information of Uruguay, the economy, education, and detailed facts point by point, also about how much dangerous can be, as it does with other countries, to inform that the United States knows,” said the Ambassador .

She said that “the authorities in Uruguay is doing a very important job: have invested many resources and demonstrated keen to work with my administration to move forward on these issues (…) in the past seven months, my time here, I seen progress in terms of cooperation projects we have, “said the Ambassador

“If you compare the document, which says in other Latin American cities, the situation is not the same: Montevideo is one of the cities more paceful in the Americas. The credit must be given to the Uruguayan authorities on the level of protection for citizens, “he said the ambassador.

As for the claims of the same document citing a sense “anti-American” in public events taking place next to the Administration and the Legislative Palace, Reynoso said. “I have not felt that anti-American sentiment. I know there have been some protests from organizations that have different views to those of us … but so universal level, and I have felt, or felt my embassy, a complaint or anti-American sentiment. ”

Montevideo is one of the better cities in South America.
